Abstract

Twenty schizophrenic patients(10 men and 10 wome) and 20 normal control subjects were examined by cerebral magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) Measurements of the temporal lobe were obtained using consecutive coronal sections containing this
structures.
Only left temporal lobe volume was significantly decreased by approximately 9% in schizophrenic patients compared with normal controls. Both temporal lobe volume were significantly decreased in femal subjects compared with male subjects.
